Welcome to Chicago, Illinois
Chicago is the perfect city to get a dose of all that is great about America: beautiful parks, innovative architecture, and historic figures. All with a side of deep dish pizza, blues, and baseball!
Sitting on the edge of Lake Michigan, the “Windy City,” has a stunning skyline and great neighborhoods to explore.
In “the Loop,” an area on the lake’s edge circled by Chicago’s elevated train line, the “L,” you’ll find historic high-rises, outdoor sculptures, old theaters, and modern skyscrapers. Millennium Park welcomes with visionary architecture and public sculptures, like “the Bean,” while Willis Tower, once the tallest building in the world, still offers exceptional views of the city. At Navy Pier there’s a carnival atmosphere and boats to get you out on Lake Michigan for a view of Chicago’s skyline at its best.
Grant Park, also in the Loop, is not only home to The Art Institute of Chicago, but hosts the annual Taste of Chicago Festival every July. Just a hint that one undeniable reason to visit this city is its amazing food! If you’re here in the winter try a cozy fireplace bar or during baseball season try a Chicago-style hotdog and catch a game at Wrigley Field. And anytime is a good time for a beef sandwich in the historic neighborhood of Little Italy and University Village.
Shop on the wide boulevard of the Magnificent Mile, find everything from wild animals to gangsters at the zoo and museum of Lincoln Park, and wander past the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway and the house of Frank Lloyd Wright in Oak Park.
