Welcome to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Considered the birthplace of America, Philadelphia is a destination for history lovers, food lovers, nature lovers...anyone and everyone!...as it celebrates love and liberty for all.
It is the only UNESCO World Heritage City in the U.S., home to Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed, and the Liberty Bell, which rang out the day the Declaration was signed. Both sit in Independence National Historical Park along with the Museum of the American Revolution, the National Constitution Center, and many other historical attractions.
But history comes in many forms here. How about a Philly cheesesteak in Old Reading Terminal Market, which has been operating since 1893? Or fresh mozzarella from the Italian Market on Ninth Street, open since 1880? Or sweets from Shane Confectionery, the oldest producer of candy in the area, selling treats since 1863.
Explore the city on foot, from the skyscrapers and Love sculpture in Center City, to the colorful murals around City Hall, to the labyrinth of mosaics in the Magic Gardens. Eastern State Penitentiary gives a glimpse into the life of notorious mobster, Al Capone, while the Battleship New Jersey presides over the Delaware River and the Philadelphia Museum of Art is a beacon of neoclassical beauty. Be sure to visit the African American Museum, the Touch Museum (a must for kids!), and the Academy of Natural Sciences on Logan Square.
Book one of our Philadelphia photographers then soak up brotherly (and sisterly) love with picnics beside the fountain in Rittenhouse Square, strolls down Locust Walk amidst the University’s Gothic buildings, and all sorts of activities in Fairmount Park’s 2,000 acres in the heart of this epic city.
